Jack couldn’t think about anything else but himself, he needed to get to safety. Somewhere that he could hide away from all the shooting. Bodies of his fellow soldiers dropped to the dusty ground and the cries of the wounded echoed through the cold night air. Jack longed to be at home with his family, away from this horrid war. His leader, Colonel Shanahan, flew past him like a lion catching its prey. Suddenly, the loudest shot of the night rang out. Everything stopped and Jack looked around to see Colonel Shanahan drop to the ground…
